Research and Development Engineer

Winpak Films, Inc. seeks a Research and Development Engineer in Senoia, Georgia responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of chemical engineering research and development activities to commercialize the company's high quality packaging materials.  Specific duties include:  (i) developing new polymer film and sheet products and establishing conditions and processes for production of these (and other) products; (ii) overseeing the startup and transitioning of newly invented products and processes to manufacturing lines; (iii) conducting hands–on experiments in the laboratory; (iv) analyzing and interpreting properties of polymeric materials and structures; (v) identifying novel applications for new polymer technologies and materials; (vi) utilizing stage gate process for product development and commercialization; and (vii) collaborating with other scientists and engineers across other Winpak locations, manufacturing, marketing and customers for new product development efforts.
Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering or a directly related field along with two years of experience leading product development/engineering projects in the Flexible Packaging industry required.

Experience must include two years (can be concurrent):

  1. with polymer processing, compounding and/or extrusion process;
  2. resin and polymer selection;
  3. flexible packaging market; and
  4. converting process.

Candidate must also know (through academic background, training or experience):

  1. data analysis through Excel, Minitab or the like; and
  2. project management.
