Quality Assurance Engineer
Position Summary
Winpak Films, Inc., located 30 miles south of Atlanta, Ga is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer. Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality standards of the products produced by Winpak Films, utilizing Lean Manufacturing problem solving techniques to reduce product defects and to continuously improve product quality and through the monitoring and auditing of materials, production equipment, and operators.
Position Responsibilities:

Monitors
the quality process on the production floor.
- Investigates
causes of customer complaint defects.
- Audits
customer complaint corrective actions for effectiveness.
- Prepares
activity reports, including outcomes of investigations and audits.
- Promotes
teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department
and the Company.
- Spends
majority of the time on the production floor, monitoring the process,
investigating causes of defects, and auditing corrective actions for
effectiveness.
- Communicates
with Sales, Customer Service, and customers.
- Identifies
causes of variation and quality defects and applies statistical techniques
to resolve issues.
- Monitors
how the product is being made, audits standard work instructions and
procedures to make sure the equipment and procedures can produce quality
product.
- Audits
operator compliance to quality system requirements.
- The
Quality Assurance Engineer audits equipment conditions that effect product
quality.
- Evaluates
raw materials, in process materials, finished product, and packaging that
impacts quality.
- Gathers
input from process engineers, production managers, etc. and prepares CAR’s
in response to customer complaints.
- Performs
other duties as assigned by the Quality Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- 3
- 5 years of experience in a flexible packaging industry quality role is
preferred.
- Experience
with continuous improvement processes, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six
Sigma is desired.
Experience & Education:
- A
BS degree in Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or
other science based degree is required, with good technical skills and the
ability to be “hands on” with processes and products.
