Technical Intern

Position Summary

Winpak Films, Inc., located 30 miles south of Atlanta, Ga is looking for a technical intern for the spring or summer of 2022.  The role will focus on tracing material flow from resin to finished goods by creating value stream maps to identify gaps in the process followed by corrective action to build process continuity throughout the operation. This assignment will not only be very challenging but also provide a unique learning experience for the right candidate.  We are looking for a graduate student with pragmatic “real-world” experience, are hands-on and can strive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.  Since this project will have a high-level impact on the business, the role will have a direct reporting relationship to the Director, Technical who will provide support and serve as a mentor to ensure that your goals and objectives are met. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Map and write a program for a trace-ability project. The project must be able to: 1) systemically ensure FIFO is followed in extrusion, printing and slitting and 2) trace through our internal systems on the exact roll # used from extrusion, to printing and/or slitting
  • Create a process to ensure to allocate specific pallet # and /or roll # to quarantine through the MRB (Material Review Board) system following the trace-ability investigation
  • Ensure the company has a process in place to confidently communicate to the customer which rolls they need to quarantine on their end
  • Provide support on other technical issues requiring software and programming support

Experience and Education:

  • Engineer discipline required
  • Graduate student preferred
