Staff Accountant-Southern CA

Summary:

  •  Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting all accounting and financial related activities. These include AP/AR, credit card entry, account reconciliations and general ledger accounting. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Supervisor to ensure the accurate and timely distribution of financial and management reports. The applicant should be detail-oriented, possess a high degree of accuracy and work well in a team environment.

    Education and Experience:

    A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
    Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting
    Avante Software experience a plus.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Perform professional level accounting duties according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Monthly Journal Entries and review.
  • Banking and reconciliation.
  • General Ledger Analysis.
  • Support monthly/quarterly close process as it pertains to operating expense management, general ledger reviews, headcount reviews, accruals, and other related processes
  • Accounts payable and expense account review.
  • Assist in the assembly/development of monthly packages to be utilized for financial management reporting, including variance explanations, forecast updates, scenario building and other analyses
  • Assist in the development of the annual operating plan (budget) and monthly forecast cycles
  • Positive contributor to the team by supporting and executing projects as needed.
  • Other ad hoc projects as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required to Perform the Essential Job Functions:

  • Good understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP)
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under strict and demanding deadlines
  • Open to development of skills and knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, including professional and courteous telephone manner and people skills.
  • Strong computer skills with a solid background in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with impeccable time management and organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workload.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast paced environment.


Physical/Mental Requirements:

The work is predominantly sedentary and requires minimal or negligible physical exertion. The employee is normally seated; however, the nature of the work allows for periods of standing or walking at will. Strength to lift or carry files weighing up to ten (10) pounds; vision to read printed materials and computer screen, and ability to hear and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Work Environment:

The environment is primarily in a controlled climate office setting but will also require time on the manufacturing floor. The manufacturing environment is subject to moderate changes in temperature and the employee will be exposed to typical hazards of noise, flying debris, and overhead hazards requiring the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
