Regional Sales Manager -West Coast

The candidate will be working in the West Coast.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Market Segment Director –Food, the Regional Sales Manager is responsible for initiating new business development with direct reports in support of sales and marketing objectives. This position also has responsibility for managing specific Sales Representatives.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific Functions

  • Effectively manage all direct reports towards achievement of their own, company and department objectives and development of their personal skill levels.
  • Participate in sales calls to both customers and prospects and assist in establishing the relationships necessary to produce new business. Help achieve high levels of customer intimacy.
  • Develop, with the Market Segment Director-Food, market strategies and goals.
  • Develop a prospect list and update progress on an as required basis.
  • Develop, with company guidelines, price strategies and terms of sale for market penetration.
  • Perform tasks required to fulfill sales and marketing objectives assigned by Market Segment Director.
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations as required.
  • Develop sales and marketing proposals as required.
  • Provide input as required for sales forecasting and planning.
  • Keep informed and document competitive activity and have an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Keep knowledgeable of specifications applicable to food packaging manufactured from all Winpak business units.
  • Support the accounts receivables process by keeping all customers current and within terms.
  • Recommend changes to pricing or terms of sales required.
  • Manage specific national accounts as required.
  • Work with the Market Segment Director-Food, the Director of Business Development and the Product Managers on identifying new markets and/or specifications as is deemed necessary by the market or changes within the market.

Activities

  • Is knowledgeable of the customers’ entire packaging supply chain and makes recommendations on product and service offerings.
  • Stays informed on all new products and services available to our customers.
  • Provide progress reports as required, and market overviews as requested.
  • Keep manager advised of important territory events.
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions and industry meetings as required.
  • Maintain effective relationships with peers, Market Segment Director and other Winpak personnel.
  • Maintain reasonable travel expense levels.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

At least 5-10 years of related sales, marketing or product management experience.
College degree along with appropriate sales, marketing or product management experience.
Must have proficiency with laptop and MS office applications.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Will work from a home office location or an office provided in a Winpak facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to travel within the assigned territory up to 50% of the time.
