Quality Improvement Engineer


Collect data on the product, the process, and work methods by utilizing various measuring devices and techniques. Analyze this quality data and provide input to the production and process departments leading quality improvement projects, as needed, to ensure high quality finished goods to our customers.


Review and analyze past quality difficulties and the preventative actions associated with them to determine effectiveness.
Analyze SPC data daily for input accuracy and statistical analysis of opportunities for improvement.
Train manufacturing personnel in SPC, parts inspection, parts measurement, and documentation.
Responsible for calibration, maintenance, and documentation of measurement equipment.
Maintain and manage SPC software/equipment coordinating with vendors as needed.
Work with maintenance to maintain and manage visual inspection software/equipment ensuring accurate defect detection.
Perform administrative duties including training documentation, calibration schedules, internal ISO audit schedules, etc.
Identify opportunities for quality improvement and work with cross functional team to establish root cause and corrective action.
Lead quality improvement projects as need.
Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System, including the GMP’s, and the food safety plans
Have an understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacture of Food Packaging and the requirements to implement and maintain SQF System relevant to food sector category 27.
Serve as the SQF Site Practitioner with responsibility for verification and validation of the SQF system.
Support sustainability initiatives leading projects and teams as needed to reduce overall carbon footprint for Winpak Portion Packaging.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
In the incumbent’s absence these responsibilities will be transferred to the Plant QA Manager.


Must be trained in and follow company policies on GMP, sanitation, pre-requisite programs, chemical control and food plans and policies.
Proficient in statistical data analysis.
Excellent computer skills including MS Office and MRP/ERP systems.
Motivated self-starter that can identify opportunities and be pro-active in developing and implementing solutions.
Team player with the ability to work within cross functional team in supporting or leading role.
Strong analytical skills.
Must be competent to carry out food packaging safety and quality responsibilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Five-plus years experience in a manufacturing environment with familiarity of operations management.
Experience with quality audits as both auditee and auditor.
Good communication, computer proficiency, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a 'team' environment, is essential.
Bachelor’s degree or associates degree with appropriate work experience


60% office environment, 40% manufacturing environment.
