Quality Control (QC) Inspector (Term)

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for reporting all defects and issues to the Production and Laboratory Supervisors.  This position works closely with production to effectively communicate (oral and written) problems to maximize quality.  

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspect all products from extrusion to converting stage, keep samples based on established procedures.
Inspect all products and report defects to production and laboratory supervisors (oral and written).
Inspect products from raw material, customer return and hold material if required.
Perform all routine lab tests established as per Lab inspection Plans to monitor and control quality.
Perform other test like air monitoring, temperature and humidity monitoring, ozone testing and other required test and report issue to production and laboratory supervisor.
Inspect trial products based on R&D requirements and perform required test and task based on Marketing Department request.
Perform and follow Calibration, Verification and Lab Equipment Maintenance Program based on established schedule, standard and specification and conduct process auditing if required.
Review inventory status off mainframe and identify work orders. 
Generate and maintain Statistical Process Control data provided from computerized system.
Perform duties and responsibilities to comply with Safety Policy, Audits and Work Safety Procedures.
Develop and revise standard operating procedure, form and certificate of analysis.
Assist Lab Technicians.
Complete, process and file Quality Control reports.
Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company.
Interact with all levels of the operation in support of Winpak’s TQI program.
Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards
Perform other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Post-secondary education in either a Biochemical or Quality Control course.
One to two year’s experience in a laboratory manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of personal computers, preferably in a Windows environment.
Accurate report writing and good communication skills.
Knowledge of WHMIS.
Familiar with hand micrometer, gas chromatograph, microscope, scale, layer gauge, and tensile testers.
Familiar with calibration program, process auditing, SPC techniques
Willing to work rotating shifts.
Able to work within tight deadlines.
Able to work under minimal supervision.
Possess analytical ability and demonstrated judgment and decisiveness.
Other combinations of education, experience, knowledge and skills will be considered. 

The position is a TERM (February 1, 2020 – May 21, 2021) to provide support to the Lab Group and will be subject to rotating shifts on the three-shift cycle (or altered as required to accommodate training).
