Project Specialist - Electrical

THE POSITION:

We are looking for an experienced, high performing and motivated electrical project specialist to join Winpak’s Engineering team based in Winnipeg. In this exciting and challenging role, you will be providing design engineering support and manage the execution of key projects at the Winnipeg manufacturing facility. Projects will be aimed at upgrading facilities, new equipment installation and equipment re-design and modifications.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, comfortable working independently. An expert using Auto CAD, you would be the team member responsible for creating and updating detailed drawings and sketches for the engineering team. You have a confident professional presence and are comfortable building relationships and facilitating meetings. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Develop and prepare electrical engineering drawings, plans, diagrams or layout for building infrastructure or equipment to ensure adherence to design specifications and compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards.

Create electrical schematics for equipment and/or the facility. Assist electrical engineers in such activities as process control, electrical power distribution, or instrumentation design.

Produce detailed drawings and sketches using computer-aided design (CAD) software for the assigned projects and for other projects to support the engineering team.

Manage infrastructure and capital equipment installation projects following the engineering codes and standards and the internal project management process.

Prepare technical and project management documentation: requirements documents, scope of work, procurement documents, specifications documents, design documents, commissioning documents, cost estimates, reports etc.

Perform time and cost management of the project including cost and schedule forecasting, setting baselines, perform project cost and schedule change control and variance reporting.

Monitor and report on the execution of the assigned projects, taking action to coordinate activities and maintain budgets and timelines. Prepare project status reports and project dashboards for stakeholders and senior management.

Directly oversee and manage teams of consultants, contractors and subcontractors. Direct daily activities, answer questions about design and electrical codes, and guide workers throughout the construction/installation process. 

Revise plans and resolve issues arising during design and construction to prevent delays.
Compile and maintain records documenting engineering schematics, specifications and all project management documents.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:


Electrical Engineering technologist diploma, Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or eligible for registration.
5+ years experience in electrical design of building infrastructure required.
Excellent working knowledge with AutoCAD required.
Working knowledge of Canada Electrical Code, construction site practices and regulatory requirements. 
Certification and/or diploma in Project Management is a strong asset.
Experience with managing contractors' work in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills to rapidly adapt and solve problems during the project's lifecycle.
Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to successfully lead and oversee cross functional teams.
A "can do" attitude with good initiative, attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
