Production Manager

The primary purpose of the Production Manager is to manage and direct the operations of the Production Department, working to ensure that departmental objectives as they pertain to plant safety, efficiency (productivity) process control, quality, budget control and personnel, are achieved. The incumbent must also ensure that the local programs, practices and procedures are consistent with the Company’s philosophy, Policies and objectives and in compliance with applicable Legislation.
Major Responsibilities of this key position include:
Ensuring Shift Supervisors and Process Technicians maintain a quality product per the company’s quality standards.

Taking necessary action through the Shift Supervisors and Process Technicians to ensure a good quality product is packed.

Investigating and resolving any food packaging safety problems.

Maintaining manpower levels to the budgeted standard.

Maintaining a competent work force.

Improving processes and equipment to maximize efficiencies.

Ensuring that the equipment runs at or above standard speeds.

Ensuring a safe and secure facility.

Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with employees and the Union executive.

Ensuring that all employees follow company GMP, sanitation, pre-requisite programs, chemical control and food safety plans and policies.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in a production environment with previous managerial experience in a production facility.
Post secondary degree or diploma in operations, manufacturing, or related field is preferred.
Experience supervising within a unionized facility.
Ability to lead people.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an excellent command of the English language, to interact with a wide range of individuals.
Must be self-motivated with strong organizational and decision making skills.
Working knowledge of word, excel, outlook and ERP systems.
Must have strong mechanical, technical, mathematical and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal and labour relations skills.
Must be able to manage in a diverse, multi-cultured environment.
