Process Engineer Intern
Position Summary:
Winpak Films, Inc., located 30 miles south of
Atlanta, Ga is looking for two process engineer interns for the spring or summer of
2022. These roles will focus on organization,
waste, and efficiency initiatives throughout the operation. These
assignments will not only be very challenging but also provide unique learning
experiences for those selected. We are
looking for graduate students with pragmatic “real-world” experience, are
hands-on and are willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Since these projects will have a high-level
impact on the business, these roles will have a direct reporting relationship
with the Director, Operations who will provide support and serve as a mentor to
ensure that your goals and objectives are met.
Position Responsibilities:
- Establish best in class visual controls and 5S across the integrated operation.
- Implement lean concepts throughout the operation.
- Perform root cause analysis and implements corrective action.
- Utilize Lean- Six Sigma, DMAIC, TPM, flow charts, 5s and other tools as needed to improve productivity, lower costs, reduce scrap and drive process improvements.
- Support plant process improvement teams as needed.
- Work with plant leaders and employees to establish standard work instructions and control plans, for respective projects and events, to ensure long-term sustainable improvements.
- Assist in leading, coaching and championing Lean projects.
- Gather and analyze data to direct and implement change to a process or area.
- Ability to utilize spatial planning to incorporate the most efficient and best flow for a process or area.
- Conduct/assist in Plant Assessments to identify improvement opportunities, develop prioritized improvement action plans based on assessment findings, which include responsibilities, resources and timing.
- Leverage manufacturing/process improvement to implement best practices.
- Identify and train appropriate personnel to understand, communicate, participate and drive value stream mapping, lean and 5-S initiatives.
- Communicates clearly and directly with team members concerning performance expectations, key deliverables and individual accountability towards the team’s success.
- Review individual performance against assigned objectives.
- Champion lean/continuous improvement, 5-s, and value mapping initiatives.

Experience & Education:
- Engineering discipline required
- Graduate student preferred.
