Printing: General Production

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the General Production position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of cleaning equipment for staging press parts, anilox’s and solvents required for production on all presses within the Printing department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for safe operation of machinery and equipment, including solvent distillation unit/parts washer and both anilox’s washers.
Maintain proper housekeeping to 5S and safety standards of designated work areas.
Maintain an inventory of clean press parts and anilox’s.
Maintain solvent levels and chemical ratio in the parts washer and distillation units.
Assist Press crews to perform weekly TPM’s for each press.
Waste removal from distillation unit and production areas.
Safely operate forklift equipment.
Willing to be trained as a Press Assistant, also wiling to act as relief or temporary press assistant position.
Able to relieve assistants on the presses when necessary
Disassemble press parts for cleaning.
Clean press parts in washer.
Wash anilox's in both cleaners.
Bring Ink to and from ink room.
Stage sleeves for PW's.
Clean ink off sleeves or cylinders and place them in storage racks.
Ensure cleaning solvent is being processed in dist. Unit.
Pump solvent in and out of clean and dirty tanks of dist. unit for the PC presses.
Bring PW Sleeves to plate washing when jobs are complete.
Take out garbage from the presses to the compactor.
Responsible for the rag drums and compactor in solvent room.
Strap up pallets of set up rolls for recycling.
Maintain recycling bins for various items.
Recycle cores.
Stock cleaning supplies and consumables.
Disaster response/Spill/Web breaks/Blowouts.
General cleaning and 5S of the dept.
Crate and uncrate anilox's when being sent out or received
Safe and efficient operation of walkie lift truck
Train as press assistant for relief
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
One-year previous work experience within industry preferred.
Mechanically inclined, good aptitude working around machines, and good organizational skills.
Required to take WHMIS training, to pass related written test.  Update test to be taken every two years.
Required to take and pass forklift training, to become certified and licensed to operate forklift equipment.
Demonstrate acceptable computer skills using Microsoft Excel and other software for audits and record daily report logs.
