Pouch: General Production


Reporting the Shift Supervisor/Lead Hand, the General Production position must assist in the safe operation of the Pouch Department. The General Production assistant must also be able to run the stretch wrapping units, walkie units, and can perform general maintenance. They are also responsible to aid the Pouch department in staging and preparing jobs in advance to assist in Pouch machine efficiency. The General Production position must complete quality audits and product testing for customers.


-Stage material for upcoming orders.
-Prepare cartons for the finished products.
-Place completed cartons on skids.
-Maintain the inventory of consumable items within the department.
-Prepare tooling for upcoming orders.

Stretch Wrapping
-Assist in collecting the finished pallets from all work centers to wrap finished pallets.
-Follow procedures for wrapping pallets according to the standards given adding needed cardboard, poly over wrap and labels to pallets as required.
-Assist in the training of new employees to ensure they are aware of the safe operation of all equipment within the department.
-Ensure all packaging equipment is used in a safe and effective manner.
-Ensure all paperwork and line reporting is completed correctly. Operate lift truck equipment when required.

-Maintain housekeeping at a level as outlined by the Company.
-Perform special projects as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
-Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company.  Interact with all levels of the operation in support of Winpak’s TQI program.
-Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards.
-Follow the Standard Operating Procedures that are set out in the following SOP’s
-Perform other duties as assigned


-Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
-Computer literate. 
-Good aptitude for machines.
-Previous related work experience is preferred.
-Other combinations of education, experience, knowledge, and skills will be considered.
