Plant Manager

The primary purpose of the Plant Manager is to manage and direct the plant operation to ensure that departmental objectives, as they pertain to plant safety, efficiency (productivity), quality, projects, budget control and personnel are achieved.  The Plant Manager must also ensure that the local programs, practices and procedures are consistent with the Company's philosophy, policies and objectives and in compliance with all applicable legislation.

Major Responsibilities of this key position include:

 - Oversees the Company's health, safety, environmental, housekeeping and security programs to ensure a safe working environment and the achievement of the company's safety, environmental and security objectives.
 - Oversees the Quality Assurance Department to ensure finished products are inspected and tested in accordance with approved procedures, methods and standards to determine they meet company standards and customer specifications.
 - Oversees the Production Departments, and if necessary, initiates actions, as required, in order to achieve plant efficiency and standard cost objectives.
 - Oversees the Engineering and Maintenance Departments to ensure the equipment and tooling operate within standard and produce products that meet specifications, and to ensure the facility is well maintained and reliable.
 - Oversees the Purchasing function to ensure that supplies and parts are purchased at a competitive cost, on a timely basis and in accordance with company specifications and approved vendors.
 - Oversees the Production Planning function to ensure inventory levels are consistent with plan and sufficient to satisfy the shipping schedule and sales forecast.
 - Oversees the Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing and Traffic functions to ensure they are performed in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner in order to meet the customer demands.
 - Manages and controls expenses to ensure capital and operating budgets are achieved.
 - Establishes and maintains positive relationships with employees and the Union executive.

Requirements:

 - Minimum 10 years of experience in a production environment with previous managerial experience in a production facility.
 - Post secondary degree or diploma in operations, manufacturing, or related field is preferred.
 - Experience supervising within a unionized facility.
 - Ability to lead people.
 - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an excellent command of the English language, to interact with a wide range of individuals.
 - Must be self motivated with strong organizational and decision making skills.
 - Working knowledge of word, excel, outlook and ERP systems.
 - Must have strong mechanical, technical, mathematical and problem solving skills.
 - Demonstrated interpersonal and labour relations skills.
 - Must be able to manage in a diverse, multi-cultured environment.
