Winpak's location in Winnipeg, Manitoba is currently searching to fill the position of: MBVS Assistant.

Position Objective:
Reporting to the Operator I, the Operator 2, or the MultiBarrier Value Stream Supervisor, the MultiBarrier Value Stream assistant will provide a support role to the MultiBarrier Cast lines and/or MultiBarrier rollstock slitters, depending on assigned work. In this role, the assistant will actively participate in the safe operation of the cast line or slitter such that the product quality, kilogram/hour outputs, and percentage scrap standards are maintained. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Operators with the preparation of all orders for the shift to minimize the amount of non-productive time and production scrap.

Assist the Operators with the running of the MultiBarrier or slitter line with emphasis placed on the support functions associated with the operation of the machines, including resin management, order preparation, raw material availability, scrap removal, housekeeping functions and packaging.

Work with the operators to develop operational skills, with a focus on standard work and supervised learning. 
Assist with both the simple and regular routine maintenance of the equipment under the direction of the Operators or Supervisor. 

Ability to learn core cutting cut both 3- and 6-inch cores using both the automatic core cutter and manual core cutter. Able to update MES schedules as required.

Ability to safely run a doctoring machine and be able to update schedules as well as simple cutdown of material as required.

Ability to assist the Auto Packaging line, keep the line running using the computers and robots. Ability to do simple inventories to assure that all required materials are available.

Conduct routine safety, quality and housekeeping checks. 

Assist in completing department documentation as assigned. 

Maintain the department and surrounding areas following prescribed housekeeping and 5s standards. 

Operate forklift equipment and material handling equipment such as overhead hoists and roll manipulators. 

Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company. Interact with all levels of the operation in support of process improvement activities. 

Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 standards and the SQF Code.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent

Previous related work experience preferred.

Good aptitude for machines.

Forklift certification (sit-down and walkie)

Ability to take instruction and work independently as well as part of a team.

Legible handwriting.

Experience with hand tools, including tape measures.

Dependable and able to work rotating 12 hour shifts.
