IT Support Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager-IT, Winpak Portion Packaging, the IT Support Technician handles the Local Area Network and related PC equipment for Winpak Portion Packaging Inc., and site telephone equipment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains the integrity of the LAN by complying with Corporate IT directive, maintaining backup procedures for the servers(s), ensuring the most current version of the approved anti-virus software is installed on the server(s) and that all computer poll to that current version. Ensures the LAN is secure from any outside sources without prior permission.

  2. Acts as the local help desk for users by answering queries and providing technical support.

  3. Install software and/or hardware for clients and servers as the Corporate office or the business unit directs

  4. Works with Human Resources to ensure all users of the LAN, e-mail, internet and remote access have read and returned a signed copy of the IT and internet policy.

  5. Raises the necessary appropriations and on approval sources and purchases all servers, desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, etc. for users, within Corporate guidelines.

  6. Maintains a detailed fixed asset ledger of all computer hardware at the location.

  7. Trains users, as required, or works with Human Resources, to source IT related training needs such as Window, Excel, Word, or any other office software tools.

  8. Maintains the local telephone system and coordinates the date and voice communications services.

  9. Works with supervisor to provide and support cell phones as required.

  10. Other functions and special projects as assigned.

  11. Configure, maintain, and support handheld wireless devices, servers, networking equipment (switches and access points), printers, pc’s / laptops / tablets, smart boards and other IT equipment.

 

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have strong knowledge of all relevant software including, MS-Office, Windows OS, Server OS.

Requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to be able to communicate with a wide range of people.

Must have good time management skills including a strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and make quick decisions.

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Between 5 - 10 years of IT job related experience.

  • BS Degree in Business curriculum or Computer Sciences, Business Major or IT Technical Support.
