POSITION SUMMARY:

The Field Service Technician will be based out of a home office. Under general supervision, the primary objective of the role is to provide outstanding customer support while successfully performing Winpak packaging material trials, installs and start-ups, troubleshooting issues, making repairs, and conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on Winpak Packaging Machines.

To achieve successful customer experience, the Field Service Technician, working closely with Sales, is responsible for building relationships with established customers in a set territory. The incumbent must also have the ability to train others on Winpak packaging materials and machinery.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following tasks are responsibilities of a Field Service Technician and not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Packaging Materials/Machine Support

  • Works independently in a field driven capacity to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for successful packaging material trials and Winpak machinery rebuilds, troubleshooting, maintenance, installations, start-ups, testing and repairs. /li>
  • Will be required to travel extensively (80%), meeting both scheduled and unscheduled service requests.
  • Ensures all safety-related components on the Winpak machinery is properly working and notifies management immediately if issues are found.
  • Provides emergency field service assistance as needed.
  • Makes decisions where only general procedures are available and exercises judgement and discretion in the absence of clear-cut procedures.
  • May be required to work onsite in Toronto, Canada or San Bernardino, CA when field service assignments are not scheduled.

Customer Relations

  • Will establish and maintain a mutual business relationship with customers within a designated territory.
  • Maintains continous contact with assigned customers to ensure highest level of service and excellence.
  • Maintain a highly professional image representing the Field Service Technicians and the Winpak Corporation image.
  • Partners with Sales and Engineering to assist with testing of materials or equipment, and helps drive revenues and continuous design improvements.

Training

  • Provides training to customers to ensure Winpak products and systems are operated and maintained properly.
  • May be asked to train other technicians, customers and Winpak personnel.

Administrative

  • Completes and submits timesheets as scheduled, without delay.
  • Writes and submits technical service reports for all service trips
  • Completes and submits expense reports per Finance departments guidelines.
  • May be asked to assist in writing standard operating procedures for operation and maintenance of Winpak systems.

Safety

  • Adheres to all Company policies, safety rules, and safe work practices on site, while traveling and at the customer’s location.
  • Will wear required PPE (may vary depending on worksite).
  • Maintains a clean driving record.
  • Reports all safety concerns to a supervisor, safety manager, human resources, or another member of management.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to travel extensively (up to 80%) and work overtime as required.
  • Ability to self-manage, schedule service calls, and relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Willingness to work holidays and weekends as some customers are a 24/7 facility operating through most weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent customer service skills portraying, a positive “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and solve customer concerns.
  • Skilled in servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and machinery.
  • Ability to perform tasks relating to mechanical, electrical, and minor programming
