Director, Finance & Administration

Reporting to the Business Unit General Manager with dotted line reporting to the Vice President & CFO (Parent Company), the Director, Finance & Administration, is responsible for accounting systems, tax & accounting compliance, and internal controls of Winpak Lane, Inc. In this role, the Director, Finance & Administration is a hands-on participant that manages the accounting, payroll, administrative, IT, taxes, inventory and shipping functions of the business unit.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in accounting, Master’s preferred
  • Other combinations of education, experience, knowledge, and skills will be considered.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in an Accounting/Finance roll
  • 7+ years of experience in a management role within a manufacturing environment (public company experience is an asset)
  • 3+ years overseeing and leading Administration, IT and Inventory

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

 

  • Experience in a technical manufacturing environment
  • Experience in working with job cost software (experience with Avante is a plus).
  • Strong PC skills including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required and proficiency in the rest of the Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Word, and PowerPoint) helpful
  • Proven success in meeting strict deadlines without exception – monthly/quarterly/annually
  • Thorough knowledge of financial performance drivers, accounting principles, procedures and systems with a solid understanding of accounting, tax, treasury, cash flow, and internal controls
  • Continual improvement mindset
  • Desire to lead and hold him/herself accountable

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

General

  • Lead and manage the accounting, inventory, and IT team
  • Serves as a member of the Leadership Team.
  • Participates in monthly Leadership Team meetings and other scheduled meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned

Finance & Accounting

  • Oversees all Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger processes
  • Responsible for the costing system, including the establishment of standards, accumulation of actual costs and analysis, and explanation of variances
  • Ensure that the Company's financial processes are compliant with US GAAP and IFRS
  • Coordinate internal month-end closing
  • Ensure that all published monthly, quarterly, and annual Corporate reporting deadlines are met
  • Perform a monthly review of Business Unit financial statements and ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled to sub-ledgers
  • Prepare and submit financial reporting to the Leadership Team and Corporate Finance
  • Prepares annual capital and operating budgets.
  • Ensure that the Winpak, Ltd. Internal Control guidelines are effectively applied in the accounting processes
  • Provide financial reporting for internal/external audits and other various requests
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Manage the improvement of tools and processes including internal controls
  • Analyzes and prepares cost justification on capital acquisition proposals
  • Check signing authority - maintaining internal controls over cash receipts & disbursements
  • Responsible for the business unit's corporate filings and records
  • Partners with all Winpak BU Finance Directors to support seamless inter-company billing of shared costs, sales commissions, inter-company sales and other items as required

Inventory

  • Responsible for inventory management and control, including daily cycle counts and physical inventories
  • Primary facilitator between inventory and other departments to ensure production needs are met

IT

  • Oversees the IT department.
