Automation and Robotics Technician


Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the Automation & Robotics Technician is primarily assigned to support, repair, pm the entire plant. Duties also include support for the rest of the facilities along with any other duties assigned by the management team. Specifically:

-Perform scheduled (PM) and unscheduled maintenance (Reactive) on robots and automated equipment in a timely manner.
-Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel related to all facets of the automated and facilities equipment.
-Assist in developing PM strategies and identify areas of improvement as related to all automated equipment.
-Ensure operational quality and efficiency targets are maintained.
-Provide a complete inventory control of specialized parts/equipment for prescribed equipment.
-Design and test hydraulic, pneumatic (electrical), and electrical equipment and systems.
-This position requires extensive logic controllers & robotic troubleshooting.
-Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company.  Interact with all levels of the operation in support of Winpak’s TQI program.
-Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards.
-Work during the scheduled shutdown, shift work and overtime to complete tasks, including call-ins.  Report for duty within a reasonable time limit when there is a call back.
-Primary shift 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, subject to change under the terms of the collective agreement.
-Perform other electrical duties as assigned.


-Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required
-Knowledge of PLC, CNC, Electrical and Mechanical Systems.
-Red Seal Certification in Electrical.
-Must be able to work shift work.
-3 plus years’ experience in the hands-on repair and maintenance of Automation, Robotics and CNC equipment.
-Hands on technical skills with respect to Electrical Assembly, Machine Repair, Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems, PLC and CNC based control and logic systems.
-Technical diploma in Automation or Engineering Technology.
-Experience with Kuka Robots is considered an asset.
-CET designation an asset.
