Associate Product Manager

Position Summary:

Winpak Films, Inc., located 30 miles south of Atlanta, Ga is looking for an Associate Product Manager.  The successful candidate will bring a technical mindset and background together with business acumen and sharp analytical abilities to expand the liquid packaging film business for Winpak Films.  This multi-faceted role will engage with sales, operations, marketing, customer service, research and development, finance, and senior management teams to develop, manufacture, and market flexible films for vertical pouch packaging and bag-in-box solutions.  The APM will develop ownership for the liquid packaging product line.  Vital roles include understanding and specifying technical elements of the product, developing marketing plans and collateral, preparing annual budgets, evaluating pricing, improving quality, supporting and training sales teams on product line, and generating new business by working with customers and partners.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and quantify addressable market space for liquid packaging portfolio
  • Identify market trends to catalyze new growth
  • Conduct competitive assessment and benchmarking of business and flexible packaging
  • Update and refresh strategic plan for liquid packaging business
  • Develop and articulate voice of the customer to guide future investment and R&D activities
  • Develop SWOT analysis for Winpak Films’ ability to serve the liquid packaging space
  • Develop leads list for area sales managers in the Food Market Segment
  • Conduct sales training
  • Spend time in at customers with Field Service Tech’s to develop film+ equipment solutions expertise; uncover unmet customer needs and wants
  • Manage pricing of product line
  • Create new marketing collateral for vertical pouch packaging and bag-in box packaging for liquid products
  • Support RFQ and bid proposals as well as equipment-oriented sales projects
  • Become the go-to resource for the product line for all functions including sales, marketing, customer service, operations, and R&D
  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality
  • Work with operations to identify optimization and efficiency gains through increased asset utilization, waste reduction, and mix management
  • Ensure compliance with all food and drug regulations in the countries which the Products are sold; with all Winpak internal regulations and Code of Conduct; with all other relevant laws
  • Work with R&D to develop sustainable solutions and conduct life cycle analysis
  • Stay abreast of commercial and technical developments within current and adjacent market spaces
  • Work with R&D to support new product development inception to commercialization
  • The APM, alongside the Specialty Films Production Manager, will be responsible for the profitability improvement and growth of the liquid packaging business. These measures include Top-line sales growth; positive price/cost; manufacturing contribution margin (MC) and EBIT
  • Working with Market Directors and other, develop road maps for product line expansion (new technology, sustainability, equipment, etc.)
  • Establish and refine forecasts for operations and plant schedulers by product type
  • Responsible for annual budgeting process for the liquid packaging product lin

Qualifications:

  • Preferred a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in managing plastic/polymer-based technical product lines, preferable within the value-adding film converting and liquid processing and packaging.
  • Multi-layer blown and/or cast film experience is desirable:
    Conventional coextrusion
  • Film slitting, laminating and converting.
  • Good understanding of plastics converting (slitting and adhesive laminating), and web-fed equipment, including liquid processing and packaging lines, are all assets.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree, preferably from within one of the following fields of study: Food Science; Polymer Science; or Chemical Engineering.
  • The successful candidates must have technical mind/aptitude balanced by a strong financial acumen; strong technical project management skills; outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Languages: Spanish and/or French fluency is an advantage
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
