Associate Accountant


Reporting to the Plant Accounting Manager this position is responsible for maintaining fixed assets, inventory accounting, assistance with monthly closing duties and other accounting related functions.


Maintain Fixed Asset sub-ledger. Including tracking capital spending by appropriation, close-outs and balancing the sub-ledger to the general ledger. Preparing the depreciation entry, disposals and month-end and year-end schedules per corporate policy.
Prepare and maintain monthly analysis to inventory accounts involving material usage, scrap, work order analysis for large variances and impact of cup weight and count variability.
Assist in month end closing by performing general accounting functions, including but not limited to, reconciliation of stock status to general ledger, reconciliation of work-in-process, and issues of spare parts from inventory.
Reconcile monthly R&D account with time reporting and book entry.
Coordinate and audit the cycle count program for finished goods and raw materials; this includes quality hold counts and participation in quarterly physical inventories (as needed).
Assistance with product costing, including updates of raw material for approval.
Participate in two annual spare parts inventories and book any usage variance.
Backup functions can include, but are not limited to, accounts payable.
Work on special projects as needed.
Responsible for reporting food packaging safety problems to plant management.
In the incumbent’s absence these responsibilities will be transferred to the Plant Accounting Manager.


Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems including but not limited to ERP Systems.
Must be competent to carry out food packaging safety and quality responsibilities.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.


At least 2-4 years of financial accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
BS in Accounting.
