Accounting Manager
Position Summary:
Knowledgeable candidate who can lead
and motivate accounting staff members and increase department accuracy and
efficiency. To succeed, you should be focused,
analytical, and detail-oriented. The ideal manager should possess excellent
leadership and interpersonal skills as well as a strong understanding of
accounting and management principles.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the daily activities of the accounting department and ensuring that monthly, quarterly, and annual reports are completed accurately and on time
- Delegate, supervise, and participate in accounting department tasks
- Hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members
- Develop and implement department controls and procedures and ensure that the department operates efficiently without sacrificing accuracy
- Evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency, ensuring that all accounting processes align with GAAP/IFRS and corporate guidelines
- Reparation of annual budgets including coordination with other departments to compile data to develop operating plan Analyzing financial data and creating reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, as requested
- Maintaining accurate and complete financial records and participating in audits or reconciliations, as needed
- Responsible for local property and use tax returns throughout the fiscal year, compiling data for annual corporate tax return
- Assisting other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the busines
Qualifications:
- Strong ability to analyze large amounts of data with
great attention to detail
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and
management principles
- Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office
- High level of efficiency and accuracy
Experience & Education:
- Five years of experience in manufacturing preferred
- Five years of increasing financial/analytical experience, preferably in plastics/packing industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, Masters preferred
